Memorial Day is not a holiday in Canada. Instead, we take the third Monday of May off to remember Queen Victoria – someone who hasn’t been a relevant part of our lives in more than a century. We do our remembrance on November 11, Remembrance Day, when we memorialize all of those who fought (andContinue reading “For those who never made it home… we remember”
From The Prairies Book Review: fantasy—Luft’s SF takes readers on an exhilarating journey as the university students Danielle Proulx and her girlfriend Maisy find themselves struggling to survive in the midst of a blackout. An international outbreak of Marburg traced to people travelling through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on December 21 is just the beginningContinue reading “Original and Intriguing… The Prairies Book Review”
Blackout is currently live and available for purchase on Amazon, in paperback and ebook. It might be a little premature to hype up the second book now, but I’m definitely writing it as we speak! The working title for the second book is Midnight. I am a little over halfway drafted at 60,000 words ofContinue reading “Progress Post: Midnight – Halfway Through First Draft”
Starting tomorrow, April 26, 2021, the Blackout ebook will be available on Amazon for free! If you enjoy action-adventure with a slice of post-apoc, kids with powers, and military fiction, give it a read.
Here we are! My author copies have come in. I can confirm that the printing is good, the cover is a nice, soft matte, and the size is standard trade paperback size. Flipping through the book, I don’t see any obvious issues. I’m pleased with the outcome.
My first novel, Blackout, has gone live today at Amazon. There’s paperback and ebook versions, and anyone who has Kindle Unlimited can even read it for free as part of their subscription to the service. https://www.amazon.ca/Blackout-Sunrise…/dp/B08YS5ZSLD is the link, or your country’s version. Obviously I’m pretty excited!
I’ve pre-ordered a small box of author copies – nothing extreme, just ten or so. When they come in, I’ll take a few pictures, check them out, see how nice the print is and whether the cover needs tweaked, but I think we finally got it right, this time.
I’ve signed up for the Amazon Kindle Direct Select program, so they have exclusivity rights on the ebook for 90 days. After that, I’ll likely be making the ebook available here, on my SubscribeStar (https://www.subscribestar.com/christine-luft), and other platforms such as Scribd. Pre-orders for the ebook are up at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08YS5ZSLD. The ID of the book isContinue reading “Blackout is now available for pre-order!”
Blackout now has cover art, for the ebook version, with a paperback version in the works. We are one step closer to publishing! The cover art was produced by Twisted Synergy (https://www.deviantart.com/twistedsynergy), who very kindly did a couple of different tweaks and mockups. We decided on this version for the cover. We all hear thatContinue reading “Yes, we have cover art!”
Self-publishing is on a different kind of schedule than traditional publishing. With traditional publishing, it can take up to three years to get your book on a shelf, from the moment a publisher picks your novel up, to the moment it rolls into your local bookslinger. Self-publishing can be significantly faster, but it comes atContinue reading “Where my Blackout at? … or, when can we expect this thing?”
